My first and final answer is “no.” Although we may think we look cool with the gangster rap clothing styles on, we probably look goofy. Many people feel that kids should be able to express themselves freely through their appearance. This can be a bit hard for a parent to accept when they’re looking at a child with a bald head and a number of piercing but maybe there’s something to be said for free expression.

Kids love looking like their favorite music stars, and this style of clothing allows them the chance to do it.

If your child is drawn to this clothing style you are probably not going to find it in your local department store. Many kids are buying their favorite hip hop clothing online. In fact, many of the most successful recording artists are coming up with their own lines of hip hop clothing.

It’s really up to the individual parents to decide what is and what isn’t appropriate for their child to wear. If you’re of the mind that the clothing reflects the person, just think about how successful some of the hip hop clothing designers are.

Personally I think that parents need to keep their children a little more disciplined than they are today. It is important that they set trends so that kids will have something of essence to follow. Despite all this theory, kids always want to get down with the crowd. Lately the way to do this is through Hip hop clothing. My advice to parents is to monitor your children so that they don't become fashion slaves!
